 Job Title:         Chief Geophysicist                           Job Location:  Markham, Ontario, Canada

 Responsibilities

 The Chief Geophysicist will be a member of an integrated geoscience team responsible for all of the geophysical actions related to data acquisition, processing and reporting.  In particular, the individual will recommend up grades in geophysical processing, workstation technology and geophysical sensors.  R&D is an integral part of Terraquest’s operations and the candidate will contribute in the R&D in the areas of VLF EM, Low Frequency Passive EM and Airborne Gravity.  Additionally, the individual will manage the data processing and be responsible for the QA/QC. The candidate will be expected to effectively communicate this work to in-house peers and management.

Additional responsibilities include reviewing proposals, managing the geophysical processing component of an R&D budget and working very closely with various clients and suppliers. Additionally, the Chief Geophysicist will mentor team members and will take the lead on various technical projects. Communication and teamwork are important in the organization.

Occasional travel may be required to remote or foreign locations to give papers and/or presentations as well as survey start up.

 Qualifications Required

  • MSc. in Geophysics minimum
  • Demonstrated international and cross cultural geophysicist  10+ years’ experience in exploration geophysics  (recent processing experience required)
  • Detailed knowledge of processing geophysical data including magnetics, EM, gravity and gamma ray spectrometry using Geosoft.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and communicate the geophysical aspects of a prospect to our clients. 
  • Preparation of technical reports and presentations.
  • Proven capability in software development and lecturing in geophysical sciences
  • Strong working knowledge of data processing work flows along with the ability to lead and direct a data processing effort
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage several team projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the desire and ability to be an active member of the team. 
  • Proven capability to prepare and present papers at geophysical symposiums.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to maximize delivery of a quality product in a timely manner by directing other data processors.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.  Additional language capability is an asset.
  • Ideally candidates will be self-starters, possess strong analytical and communication skills, and enjoy working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment

Required Pilot Experience;


  1. Single engine; ~750 total hours (Cessna 206)
  2. Twin piston; ~1000 total, 500 hours on twin, 50 on type (Piper Navajo)
  3. Twin turbine; ~1000 total, 500 hours on turbine or multi, 50 on type (Beechcraft King Air)
  4. Northern and survey experience are preferred
